| Volunteers are important to Hurley Medical Center. They provide a wide variety of valuable services to patients and staff, helping Hurley maintain its tradition of "Clinical Excellence. Service to People." |

Meet new friends and receive many benefits:
- Free parking in the ramp during your volunteer shift.
- Meal allowance in the cafeteria for a 4-hour volunteer shift.
- Reference use of the medical library.
- Free flu shots and Hepatitis B vaccines (for volunteers in high-risk areas).

- Volunteers with 100 or more hours of service receive a 20% discount on any copays for hospital services for themselves.
- Volunteers with 100 or more hours of service and who continue to volunteer 50 hours a year receive a Hurley employee discount to the Hurley Health and Fitness Center.

| All volunteers are required to attend an orientation program. Volunteers working in clinical areas are required to have an annual tuberculosis test. Hurley volunteers must be 18 years of age, except those participating in the Health Career Volunteer Program. |
| The following are some of the programs in which you can give of your time and talents: |
Auxiliary Serving Hurley since 1956, our Auxiliary of dedicated members annually contribute over 35,000 hours of service to the hospital. They are primarily a service-based organization, but also raise funds for yearly scholarship awards, special projects and major equipment purchases for Hurley. |

Service areas are: Action Cancer Team, Burn Unit, Center for Joint Replacement, Cardiovascular Services, Cut 'n' Sew, Diabetes Center, Emergency Department, Family Ambulatory Clinic, GI Lab, Goodie Cart, Information Desk, Lobby Shop, NICU Greeter, Pediatric Service, Post-Partum, Pre-Admission Testing, Radiology, Service Desk, and Surgical Lounge.

Health Career Volunteer Program |
| This program is sponsored by the Genesee County Medical Society Alliance. Students must be 15-18 years old and in grades 10-12. Registration information is distributed to high schools in September and January every year. Volunteers work with nurses, run errands, answer call lights, and transport patients. Hurley also participates in the Red Cross Summer Youth Volunteer program. |

| On-Call Chaplain |
| Ordained ministers and specially trained lay people assist the Coordinator of Pastoral Care in meeting spiritual needs of patients for a 24-hour, on-call shift. |
|
| Physical Medicine and Radiology |
|
College-level volunteers are needed in Hurley's Physical Medicine Department and rehabilitation units, our children's rehabilitation satellite in Hurley's Children's and Family Health Center, Hurley's Eastside Campus, and Sports Care. Prospective radiology students can explore this field by volunteering with the approval of staff. |

| Assist with data collection and entry. |

| Special Projects and Special Fundraising Events |
| We always need "stuffers" to help with fundraising and informational mailings. If you are looking for a shorter commitment, you can volunteer for a variety of fundraising events as diverse as the Children's Miracle Network Radiothon and Tuuri Race Day. |
