Patients at Hurley Medical Center often come to us with a variety of basic needs that go beyond their hospital stay. We accept donations of new items listed below and distribute them to Hurley departments who make sure those in need receive them. Items cannot be distributed to any one specific individual or family. The following items are especially needed to help make our patients comfortable:
- Sweatshirts and sweatpants (men and women, size M-XXL; children, all sizes)
- Socks (men and women, size S-XXL; children (including infants and toddlers)
- T-shirts (adults and children, all sizes)
- Knit hats, gloves, and mittens for adults
Other items needed to help adults and older children pass the time include activity games, puzzles, word search books, and journals and pens. New children’s books are also needed, as well as hand-held games for school-age children and teenagers. New stuffed animals are always welcome companions to help calm patients' fears.
Donations of new, washable yarn (any color except gray or black) are used to make afghans and "chemo" cap for Hurley cancer patients. Child-friendly fabrics are needed to make surgical caps for children.
Please call the Hurley Foundation at 810.262.9667 to make a donation.
